SAN DIEGO – The driver involved in a dangerous crash that took place Wednesday has been identified as 21-year-old Susy Galvan.
According to police reports, the incident took place on a freeway transition near Montgomery Field and Galvan is facing a drunken driving charge. She had her car impaled by over 20 feet of a guardrail in the incident.
The incident took place at around 6 am when the vehicle was travelling on the connector ramp from the I-805 south to State Route 163 south. Galvan lost control of the vehicle on the ramp and drove into a guardrail which speared the entirity of her vehicle, pierced through the car and exited out the rear window.
A blow torch was used by Caltrans crews to detach the guardrail from the vehicle.
Luckily, Galvan only suffered minor injuries in the incident and was taken to a hospital for shoulder pain. She was arrested on suspicion of DUI and booked into the Las Colinas Women’s Detention Facility on drunken driving charges.
